Overview
We are seeking an experienced Painting and Coating Quality Control Inspector to oversee inspection and quality assurance activities for offshore and onshore oil and gas projects. The role involves monitoring painting, coating, and insulation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and best industry practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in a technical discipline, or equivalent
- Valid certifications in NACE Level II, BGAS-CSWIP Grade I, or approved equivalent
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a Painting/Coating QC Inspector in the oil and gas industry, including at least 5 years post-certification
- Minimum 5 years offshore experience
- Experience with galvanizing, insulation/fireproofing systems, PFP coating, thermal spray (TSA) inspections, subsea pipeline coating, and 3LPP applications
- Familiarity with ISO, NACE, SSPC, and NORSOK standards
- Experience in painting inspection methods and gauges, including adhesion/pull-off tests, holiday tests, DFT checks, and salt contamination checks
Key Responsibilities
- Select, recommend, and inspect painting and coating materials for pipelines, piping, and equipment based on system type and application
- Implement relevant ISO, MSS SP, and NACE standards
- Review coating specifications, painting and coating procedures, and inspection and test procedures
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards for painting and coating inspection
- Attend inspections, witness hold points, and follow the approved Quality Control Plan
- Report inspection results to QA/QC Coordinator and follow up on all site NCRs in the area of responsibility
- Participate in coating system qualification tests (CPT) and qualification of painters/blasters
- Inspect painting materials (paints, thinners, solvents) and monitor storage/handling
- Inspect insulation materials (cold, hot, metal cladding) and associated consumables
- Coordinate painting and coating inspections with relevant project team members
- Conduct stage-wise inspections for washing, blasting, painting, and insulation activities and report compliance with acceptance criteria
- Report and follow up on defects and non-conformities identified during inspections
- Verify correct equipment usage and ensure proper inspection and certification
- Support mechanical completion in the area of responsibility and verify/close punch items
- Review and approve painting and coating inspection reports submitted by contractors during construction and commissioning
- Witness calibration of measuring equipment
