Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Quality Control Inspector to monitor and verify electrical, instrumentation, and HVAC systems installation, testing, and commissioning for offshore and onshore oil and gas projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with project specifications, international codes, and quality standards, including intrinsically safe systems, hazardous area installations, and DCS/SCADA/RTU/ESD systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering
- BSc in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering is an advantage
- CompEx or IECEx certification
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal/Lead Auditor is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience in quality control, inspection, or testing of electrical, telecommunication, or instrumentation systems in the oil and gas industry
- Minimum 5 years offshore project experience
- Experience in QC aspects and testing requirements related to installation, testing, and commissioning of Electrical, Instrumentation, and HVAC systems
- Familiarity with international codes and standards, including ISA RP12.6, ISA RP12.2.02, ISA TR12, ANSI MC96.1, IEEE 518, IEEE 1100, IEC 60529, NEMA ICS 6, NEMA 250, NEMA VE1/VE2, NFPA 70/NEC, and UL 94
- Knowledge of electrical installations, hazardous locations, and instrumentation for DCS, SCADA, RTU, and ESD systems
- Knowledge of NACE or equivalent corrosion standards for cathodic protection equipment
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements
- Experience in calibration of instruments such as control valves, pressure and temperature transmitters
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect loop checking, wiring continuity, color coding, and startup activities
- Review MRB and FAT reports for all electrical and instrumentation equipment
- Carry out inspection of EX equipment against certificates, project specifications, and drawings; verify glanding and termination, and confirm suitability for the area classification
- Implement safety principles and actively participate in all safety matters affecting the project construction
- Coordinate inspection and test requirements on behalf of the project, ensuring contractor and subcontractor compliance with project specifications
- Ensure inspection documentation meets the requirements of Project Quality Plans, ITPs, and project standards
- Complete inspection and test reports and maintain accurate records
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and end users
- Verify calibration of measuring and testing equipment
- Review quality documentation, including method statements, work procedures, ITPs, and inspection records
- Identify potential or actual non-conformances and propose corrective and preventive actions
- Witness and monitor technical inspections during site and factory acceptance tests
- Plan and perform SATs and E&I tests in coordination with other field supervisors and contractors
- Conduct material receiving inspections and verify installation of electrical and instrumentation equipment against hook-up drawings
- Assist senior quality engineers with review of routine test reports and vendor documentation for conformity
- Monitor contractor performance in electrical and instrumentation site activities, including grounding systems and material receiving inspections
- Ensure all E&I activities comply with project requirements and reports are approved and included in documentation packages
- Witness site and laboratory tests related to electrical and instrumentation activities
- Inspect and verify materials and equipment usage according to specifications
- Perform receiving inspections of E&I equipment per approved ITP
- Check delivery documents against purchase orders, specifications, and material certificates; reject non-compliant materials
- Follow up on corrective actions to close non-conformances
- Monitor trends of non-compliance and provide feedback on contractor performance
- Initiate surveillance and NCRs for QC engineer approval
- Review Mechanical Completion dossiers and ensure all ITRs are valid, signed off, and approved
