Role Overview
The Power Risk Engineer will provide technical risk management advice and support to underwriting and claims teams, focusing on industrial power generation, battery gigafactories, and large-scale operations. The role combines engineering expertise with risk evaluation, professional judgment, and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver clear, objective risk management advice, including setting loss estimates and evaluating risk exposures

Develop, implement, and optimise tools and processes for efficient financial risk control and reduction

Maintain up-to-date engineering knowledge and share expertise across the team

Build and maintain professional credibility with clients, brokers, and the insurance market

Plan and prioritise site visits in coordination with underwriters, insureds’ management, and brokers

Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team and workflow processes

Support education and training initiatives to broaden knowledge beyond core expertise for underwriting and claims purposes
Candidate Requirements

Qualified engineer (Civil or Industrial Engineering degree preferred) with a minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in power generation, industrial maintenance, operations, or safety management, including conventional power and battery gigafactories

Insurance engineering experience with a lead insurer or reinsurer is advantageous but not essential

Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Enthusiasm for tackling new challenges and working with multinational clients, brokers, and claims teams

Flexible, team-oriented, and personable approach to work

Fluent in English; additional languages such as French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Turkish are advantageous
