Overview
We are seeking a Power Mechanical Engineer to lead and contribute to mechanical asset optimisation projects across heat and power assets in the UK. The role involves providing technical expertise, supporting maintenance strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement in mechanical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to mechanical asset optimisation projects, including planned and unplanned outages

  • Provide expert mechanical engineering advice across heat and power assets, auxiliary plant, and mechanical pipework systems

  • Support the development and delivery of risk-based maintenance strategies in compliance with PSSR and national standards

  • Assist with mechanical and boiler maintenance contract management, including technical input into procurement and contractor performance reviews

  • Define and implement mechanical engineering solutions to improve asset performance within project budgets and objectives

  • Collaborate with O&M teams, design teams, and other stakeholders to foster a culture of process safety and continuous improvement

  • Support incident investigations, panels of inquiry, and lessons learned exercises across renewables and power sites

  • Ensure all work complies with financial standards and procurement principles

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering degree, HNC, or equivalent

  • Significant experience with boilers and auxiliary mechanical plant in the power or heat generation sectors

  • Strong working knowledge of PSSR regulations, and steam and hot water boilers

  • Proven experience delivering engineering projects and working in multi-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to diagnose operational problems, develop innovative solutions, and manage contracts

  • Full UK driving licence
