Job Overview:
We are seeking an EPC Contracts and Commercial Director to oversee contract management, procurement strategies, and commercial negotiations for EPC oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan. This role is crucial in ensuring contractual compliance, mitigating risks, and optimizing financial and legal outcomes. The director will collaborate with project teams, clients, and legal advisors to manage contract execution, claims, and dispute resolution while driving commercial excellence in project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement contract management strategies, ensuring compliance with EPC project requirements and industry regulations.
- Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favorable contractual terms.
- Oversee contract drafting, execution, and administration, ensuring risk mitigation and legal protection.
- Monitor contract performance, identifying potential claims and dispute resolution strategies.
- Manage cost control, budget forecasting, and financial risk assessments to optimize project profitability.
- Ensure adherence to procurement strategies and supply chain management best practices.
- Provide strategic guidance on change management, variations, and contractual amendments.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and project teams to align contractual obligations with business objectives.
- Lead contract risk assessments and implement mitigation plans to prevent legal and financial exposure.
- Mentor and develop a team of contracts and commercial professionals to enhance their expertise in EPC projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years working experience, with at least 5 years in a relevant supervisory position.
- At least 2 years of experience in the GCC is a plus.
- Strong expertise in EPC contract management, including FIDIC, NEC, and other industry-standard contracts.
- In-depth understanding of commercial negotiations, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution strategies.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, procurement processes, and cost management in EPC oil and gas projects.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, is a requirement.
