Electrical Engineer - Building Services / Infrastructure

The Opportunity

An established engineering consultancy is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to work as a lead designer across multiple building and infrastructure upgrade projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical capabilities along with excellent communication and coordination skills. Prior experience in electrical consulting is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys and document existing building electrical systems.
  • Calculate power and lighting loads for various building systems.
  • Review building codes and perform detailed code analyses.
  • Prepare Technical Basis of Design reports.
  • Design fire alarm and life safety systems.
  • Select and develop layouts for electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, panels, emergency generators, and power distribution systems.
  • Represent the company professionally during project meetings with architects, clients, contractors, and design teams.
  • Deliver high-quality technical solutions while aligning with the company's core values and mission.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, work independently, and collaborate effectively in team settings.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred).
  • LEED Certification (advantageous).
  • Additional certifications in relevant technical areas are a plus.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time salaried exempt role.
  • Standard workweek: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM (flexible schedule with core working hours).
  • Occasional additional hours required to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to client meetings and worksites as necessary.
