Construction Supervisor (Pipeline)
Location: Doha Onshore - Abu NakhlaContract Duration: Until 31 December 2027, with possibility of extension
Qualifications
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical Engineering or B.Sc./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
- Relevant courses in Safety, Quality, and Construction
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in Oil & Gas projects
- Extensive experience in pipeline and associated piping/tie-in works related to brownfield, stations, refinery, and cross-country pipelines in the onshore oil & gas industry
- Familiarity with national and international codes, standards, and specifications
- Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
- Good command of English (oral and written)
- Knowledge of industry engineering standards and QSHE awareness
- Strong supervisory, planning, and coordination skills
- Good communication and report writing skills
- Understanding of civil requirements and interface with civil during mechanical execution
- Exposure to testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of new facilities in a brownfield environment
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and control site construction/installation of works associated with oil and gas process plant and pipelines, covering mechanical, piping, and pipeline construction and testing duties
- Coordinate pre-commissioning activities and assist during commissioning of facilities
- Initiate and manage ITRs, punch lists, construction completion certificates, and facilitate project completion documentation
- Inspect construction works and materials in accordance with project quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs)
- Supervise contractors during execution of construction activities
- Participate in reviewing design drawings, method statements, and material requisitions
- Supervise and coordinate mobilization of contractors to site as per schedule
- Approve construction activities and coordinate various aspects of project construction, including inspections, material approvals, and documentation
- Conduct daily checks on contractor staff and work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and specifications
- Report anomalies or contractual deviations and recommend corrective actions
- Review and endorse work permits and ensure contractor compliance with permit to work systems and safety requirements
- Participate in development of as-built drawings and documentation
- Prepare punch lists for finished work prior to handover
- Work closely with other construction supervisors across disciplines
- Report main issues, site events, progress, trends, and recommendations for improvement
- Supervise contractor work in progress, inspect work, report problems, and enforce safety standards on site
- Liaise with QC inspectors on quality matters and with HSE teams on safety matters
- Coordinate with discipline construction focal points and supervisors throughout multi-discipline projects, including chairing weekly progress meetings and managing site document control
- Review project planning and scheduling during construction, identify slippage, and assist in optimizing contractor resources
- Review construction method statements and pre-commissioning procedures
- Review and endorse as-built drawings and construction dossiers
- Ensure implementation of safety regulations and compliance with environmental and other regulations
- Coordinate with concerned parties to resolve routine site issues and refer technical queries as needed
- Update daily and weekly construction progress reports and verify contractor progress statements
- Attend weekly progress meetings for assigned projects
