Overview
We are seeking a Wind Farm Technician I to support the operations and maintenance of wind farms and related facilities. This role is responsible for safely executing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and supporting the overall operational readiness of the plant. The Technician will maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles, provide technical guidance to the O&M team, and help maintain a strong safety and performance culture on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all operations and maintenance tasks safely and in compliance with site policies and procedures

  • Conduct acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following maintenance or outages

  • Assist with turbine maintenance including servicing, major component work, replacement, and troubleshooting

  • Support Balance of Plant procedures, including substation and collection system maintenance

  • Serve as backup at other sites as required

  • Track and maintain records of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the digital maintenance management system

  • Contribute to team culture, safety initiatives, and operational excellence

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree or 2-4 year degree in engineering, physics, power, or related technical field preferred

  • Alternative qualifications may include relevant licenses or certifications such as Journeyman, Master Electrician, or Wind Technician Certification

  • Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution operations/maintenance, with at least 2 years in wind turbines

  • Wind turbine experience preferred (e.g., Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex, SGRE)

  • Military experience in technical fields (electrical, electronics, mechanical) is a plus

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools

  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics

  • Intermediate understanding of electromechanical systems, relay, hydraulic accumulators, linear transducers, motor drives, AC/DC converters, and power electronics

  • Intermediate PC skills; able to use Microsoft Office Suite and Teams for meetings

  • Ability to prepare and present technical documentation and presentations

  • Strong problem-solving, initiative, and ability to work independently or in a team

  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb wind towers daily, balance in confined or swaying areas, and navigate turbines and substation sites

  • Ability to push, pull, or lift tools and equipment up to 50 lbs

  • Must maintain personal weight limit of 270 lbs
