Position Description

Position: Site - Welding Superintendent

Grade: 6/7

Department/ Division: QMFY

Location: Site

Reports to: Construction Manager / Welding Engineer

 

Direct Reports:

Overview: Responsible for Welding execution plan, Methos statement

Identify Welding Machine requirement at site, Welder

deployment, Monitor performance of welder.

Primary functions:

1. Report to Welding Engineer / Construction Manager

2. Leads and controls welding foramens/ Supervisor and

welders engaged in all activities related to welding

processes.

3. Optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to

ensure efficient and timely completion of the works. Setting

and measuring of daily targets (Dia inch per day) to

supervision and welders.

4. Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead and coordinate

welding crews, foremen to execute daily tasks, including

assigning work, monitoring performance, and conducting

toolbox talks to promote safety and productivity. Assist in

resolving conflicts, mentoring junior staff and fostering a

positive work environment.

5. Plan welding sequences, manage inventory of consumables

and equipment.

6. Ensure that required welding Equipment, Cables, Machine,

Oven etc. available at site to perform the task.

7. Ensure that all welding equipment working condition is

satisfactory. Any faulty equipment which can hamper the

performance of work, shall be identified and return back.

8. Providing welding expertise in the development of specific

welding procedures or requirements related to piping and

structural welding

9. Ensure optimum utilization of welding equipments in

workshop and site, welding consumables.

monitoring/reporting of wastages and maintaining the

compliance of welding consumable handling procedures.

10. Provide back up to the Foreman for managing and handling

projects including providing technical advice as required.

11. Ensure that qualified welder available at site. Providing

guidance and direction to welder & Monitoring welder

performance.

12. Ensure that all work is carried out to the required quality in

the best possible manner and within the guidelines of

industry's best engineering practices.

13. Providing feedback to during retaining process on the good

welder (Welders who can produce less repair and can do

welding by both hands - Left /Right)

14. Initiate, coordinate and enforce production, safety, and

quality system, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications/Experience:

Diploma / Degree / Min 10 Year Site Experience in Oil & Gas

fields welding in Jacket, Platform, Offshore Structure in various

welding process like GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, in semiautomatic,

in automation etc.

Specific skills and

knowledge

FCAW process experience is must in offshore structure

welding and shall have other processes like GTAW,

SMAW, SAW etc. in piping and structure.

Good knowledge of welding equipments & Automation

Experience in Site Execution in problem solving and welder

Training.

Welding Equipment knowledge, Operate modern welding

process/ equipment / train welder / Foremen

Personal competencies: Strong Interpersonal relationship capabilities.

Leadership capabilities

Good anticipation, planning & organizing skills.

Confident, knows himself well, people gravitate to him, and

commands respect and trust among peers and coworkers.
