Thermal Cracking Specialist - Petrochemicals
Location: Saudi Arabia (Residential)

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Furnace Engineer with strong expertise in steam cracking and pyrolysis operations. The role focuses on optimising furnace performance, troubleshooting operational issues, and improving process efficiency and reliability across the petrochemical site.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate feedstock characteristics including cracking yields, coking tendencies, and contaminants.
- Provide technical expertise in the use of cracking yield simulation tools such as SPYRO or equivalent.
- Support troubleshooting of cracking heater operations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Optimise furnace operation during all phases-start-up, shutdown, decoking, normal operation, testing, and tune-up.
- Define and maintain specific furnace operating windows for safe and efficient performance.
- Identify and implement incremental improvements in energy efficiency, throughput, feed flexibility, and emissions reduction (e.g., NOx control).
- Develop and apply strategies to extend cycle length and minimise coke formation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Proven experience in furnace or pyrolysis operations within a petrochemical environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with simulation and process optimisation tools.
- Good understanding of process safety and energy efficiency principles.
