Position Title: Technical Writer

Location: Qatar (Ras Laffan / Doha)

Working Schedule: 8-10 hours per day, Sunday to Thursday

Estimated Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 1-year initial contract with possibility of extension

Job Purpose

  • Develop user-friendly and concise operating procedures, standing instructions, and new project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with established competency assurance standards to support safe and effective daily operations and project start-ups.

Reporting & Relationships

  • Reports to: Procedures Lead
  • Internal Contacts: Operations, Maintenance, Engineering & Projects, and other relevant departments.
  • External Contacts: Contractors, vendors, and third-party service providers (occasional).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop documentation for Operations plants in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and ISO 9000 & 14000 requirements.
  • Revalidate and maintain Operations Group procedures and standing instructions for accuracy and usability.
  • Review and revise existing plant operations documentation, including criticality assessments.
  • Produce concise technical and safety-related documents reflecting industry best practices and lessons learned.
  • Develop procedure assessment packages aligned with competency assurance standards.
  • Facilitate review processes to ensure documentation reflects "As-is" and "As-built" conditions.
  • Identify operational areas requiring technical updates and implement procedural solutions.
  • Administer document review processes, capturing requested changes effectively.
  • Collaborate with Graphics Officers and Engineering documentation teams to update P&IDs and other simplified drawings accurately.
  • Support operational risk mitigation by enhancing procedural capacity across departments.

Qualifications

  • HND in Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in LNG process operations.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a technical author in the hydrocarbon or petrochemical industry.

Technical & Business Skills

  • Expert in written and spoken English.
  • Proficient in word processing, desktop publishing, project planning, spreadsheets, flowcharts, graphics, technical drawing, and related computer tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS SharePoint.
  • Strong coordination, analytical, and technical writing skills.
