Position Title: Technical Safety Engineer
Location: Doha, Qatar (Onshore)
Contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension
Work Schedule: 5 days/week, 8 hours/day
Estimated Start Date: January 2026
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Safety Engineer to perform fire protection and safety adequacy studies across onshore oil and gas facilities. The role involves conducting gap analyses for active and passive fire protection systems, as well as assessing escape, evacuation, and shelter-in-place arrangements to ensure compliance with Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
Key Responsibilities
Active Fire Protection System Adequacy Report - Gap Analysis
- Review firewater systems including hydrants, monitors, deluge, foam systems, and fire extinguishers.
- Evaluate hydraulic calculations, firewater demand calculations, ring-main layouts, and FW P&IDs.
- Identify gaps and produce detailed reporting to ensure compliance with Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
Passive Fire Protection Adequacy Study - Gap Analysis
- Assess fireproofing design across facilities, including jet fire and pool fire scenarios.
- Verify fire resistance ratings and compliance with standards.
- Prepare gap analysis reports with clear recommendations.
Escape, Evacuation & Shelter-in-Place Adequacy Study - Gap Analysis
- Review muster points, evacuation routes, and shelter-in-place provisions.
- Evaluate adequacy against Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
- Document findings and recommendations in comprehensive reports.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience in oil & gas projects with hands-on exposure to fire protection systems, fireproofing, and emergency evacuation planning.
- Strong knowledge of Shell DEP and QatarEnergy safety standards.
- Proven experience performing gap analyses, reviewing hydraulic/firewater calculations, and P&ID layouts.
- Ability to produce high-quality documentation and reports.
