Technical Safety Engineer
Location: Hampshire
A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Technical Safety Engineer to support a diverse mix of energy transition and conventional energy projects. This role offers exposure across onshore, offshore, hydrogen, carbon capture, and renewable sectors, with flexible hybrid working based in Hampshire. The arrangement typically allows around 60% remote work each month.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical safety work across multiple project phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and maintaining strong engineering integrity throughout.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake technical analysis, calculations, and engineering studies in alignment with industry codes and internal quality standards.

Deliver technical safety activities, including loss prevention (fire and gas detection, active and passive fire protection, hazardous area classification).

Perform risk analysis, such as QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, and flare and vent studies.

Develop HSE philosophies and safety documentation.

Conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies.

Contribute to and lead HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL assessments.

Provide guidance to junior engineers, ensuring work quality and adherence to schedules.

Support the development and improvement of internal standards and procedures.

Assist with manhour estimating and planning for proposals and projects.

Stay informed of relevant standards, regulatory changes, and technical advancements.

Actively participate in technical safety reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
Minimum Requirements

Degree in engineering or related discipline.

Experience across Concept, FEED, and Detailed Engineering phases for both onshore and offshore energy projects.

Strong background in technical safety engineering within Oil and Gas and/or energy transition sectors.
