The Opportunity
A major clean energy organisation is seeking an accomplished Technical Director to lead the delivery of a nationally significant hydrogen project. This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a flagship green hydrogen infrastructure asset — from detailed engineering through to commercial operation.

You'll be the driving force behind a high-impact project that will help shape the UK's low-carbon future, overseeing a broad range of stakeholders and technical workstreams including EPC, grid connections, power agreements, and more.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Own the full project lifecycle from engineering to commissioning and start-up

  • Define and deliver the project strategy, ensuring targets on safety, budget, and timeline are met

  • Serve as the central authority for all technical and delivery decisions

  • Oversee integration between engineering, procurement, and construction

Owner’s Engineer Oversight

  • Act as primary point of contact for the Owner’s Engineer (OE)

  • Ensure OE resourcing and performance align with project milestones

  • Maintain strong lines of communication between internal and external stakeholders

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Oversee delivery of the electrolyser package and EPC contracts

  • Ensure seamless integration with grid connection and related infrastructure

  • Manage commercial obligations, KPIs, contract variations, and claims

  • Support final negotiations for power supply agreements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the face of the project to regulators, funding bodies, the offtaker, and local communities

  • Ensure reporting requirements for investors, government partners, and funders are fully met

  • Provide project updates to steering committees and executive boards

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, or similar)

  • 10+ years’ experience in major project delivery (CAPEX >£50M), including 5+ years in a senior leadership role

  • Proven experience delivering complex energy or infrastructure projects through EPC and commissioning

  • Strong track record managing Owner’s Engineers and multidisciplinary teams

  • Commercial and contractual acumen

  • Confident communicator and stakeholder manager

  • Familiarity with hydrogen or renewable energy projects a strong advantage

  • Chartered Engineer or relevant project management certification preferred
