System Engineer - Safety Instrumented Systems

Contract: Initial 1-year contract, with possibility to extend
Overview
We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with expertise in Honeywell Safety Manager systems to develop, implement, and maintain safety and fire gas logics. The role ensures reliable performance, integration, and compliance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, review, and maintain SRS-compliant logic using Honeywell Safety Builder for Safety Manager
- Develop and maintain Cause & Effect matrices, interlocks, permissives, voting schemes (1oo2, 2oo3), trip logics, overrides, and bypass management
- Implement and validate logic for ESD/PSD, F&G, BMS, HIPPS, and package interfaces (compressors, furnaces, flare)
- Configure and maintain SOE timestamping, diagnostics, watchdogs, and health monitoring
- Ensure reliable integration with Experion PKS (HMIs, alarms, historian, Events/SOE)
- Conduct offline/online testing and commissioning for new project requirements or system changes
- Troubleshoot and resolve SM hardware and software issues
- Implement change management and provide operations/maintenance support
- Support risk assessments for management of change and permit to work
- Prepare and maintain system design specifications, work instructions, and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless operation of control systems
- Provide technical support, training, and coaching to local personnel
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years' experience in SIS engineering/maintenance within process industries
- Hands-on expertise with Honeywell Safety Manager and Safety Builder configuration tools
- Solid experience with Experion PKS integration (alarms, SOE, displays, historian)
- Strong knowledge of major equipment protection principles and instrumentation
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with F&G philosophy, site standards for overrides/bypasses
- Honeywell Safety Manager system certification
- TÜV Functional Safety Engineer/Professional (IEC 61511) or equivalent
