Surveyor Supervisor

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Surveyor to join a leading project within the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will provide expert support across all surveying, mapping, and geospatial data activities throughout the lifecycle of large-scale construction projects.
Job Description
The Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy of field data, verifying construction dimensions, supervising contractor survey work, and maintaining corporate geographic information systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in surveying equipment, software, and construction survey management, combined with the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders at all stages of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys and data collection to ensure that corporate geospatial systems are continuously updated with accurate information.
- Perform dimensional checks and site verifications on civil and pipeline construction projects to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and advice on survey methodologies and procedures for in-house and outsourced projects to ensure data quality.
- Review and assess technical aspects of tenders relating to survey and mapping activities; participate in tender evaluation committees.
- Supervise and conduct quality assurance checks on contractor field survey activities, ensuring adherence to approved methodologies and safety standards.
- Review contractor project deliverables for compliance with contractual requirements.
- Maintain and calibrate survey equipment; remain informed on technological advancements in surveying and geomatics, recommending implementation where applicable.
- Develop and maintain procedures to ensure consistency and high standards across all topographical surveying, site engineering, and mapping activities.
- Witness and provide technical advice on hydrographical surveys, LiDAR data collection, and other related activities performed by contractors.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Degree or Higher Technical Diploma in Surveying, Mapping, or a related field.
- Membership of a recognised professional institution is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in surveying, with at least 5 years working on major construction projects within the oil and gas sector.
- Strong working knowledge of modern surveying equipment, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS (or equivalent GIS software).
- Extensive experience reviewing project survey scopes, method statements, supervising contractor survey work, and approving survey reports and deliverables.
- Solid understanding of dimensional control techniques for civil and pipeline construction.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety requirements, and quality assurance processes related to survey activities.
