Contract Type: Secondment contract until 31 December 2027

Overview
An experienced Surveyor is required to support large-scale construction and infrastructure works within the energy sector. This role involves overseeing surveying, mapping, and geospatial data activities across complex projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with design requirements. The position offers long-term contract stability and exposure to technically challenging work in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and oversee surveying and data collection activities to ensure accurate and up-to-date geospatial records.

  • Perform dimensional and positional checks for ongoing civil and pipeline construction works to ensure compliance with approved design drawings.

  • Prepare, review, and implement survey scopes and method statements.

  • Supervise and inspect contractor surveying activities to ensure approved methodologies, quality standards, and health and safety requirements are met.

  • Review and approve survey reports, drawings, and data deliverables in line with contract requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external contractors on surveying, mapping, and geomatics practices.

  • Support tender evaluations by reviewing technical submissions related to surveying and mapping activities.

  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across different phases of project delivery.

  • Maintain and manage surveying equipment, with awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practices.

  • Develop, maintain, and apply surveying procedures and standards to ensure consistency and quality.

  • Witness and advise on specialist survey activities including hydrographic surveys, LiDAR, and other advanced data collection methods.

  • Support updates to corporate geographic information systems to reflect field changes and completed works.

Requirements

  • BSc degree or Higher Technical Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Mapping, or a related discipline.

  • Membership of a recognised professional surveying institution is advantageous.

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in surveying, including at least 5 years on large construction projects within the oil and gas or energy sector.

  • Strong working knowledge of modern field surveying equipment and industry-standard survey and GIS software.

  • Proven experience supervising contractor survey works and reviewing technical deliverables.

  • Solid understanding of construction tolerances, dimensional control, and quality assurance processes.

  • Ability to work across multiple project stages and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and technical excellence.
