About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Supervising Mechanical Engineer to lead project-based mechanical design efforts within a dynamic, multidisciplinary consultancy environment. This role will involve client-facing responsibilities, coordination with contractors and architectural teams, and oversight of the mechanical design process from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead system design and layout including use of CAD/BIM tools, performing calculations, and ensuring multi-discipline coordination.
- Represent the company in project meetings and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Define system applications, operational parameters, and sequencing in collaboration with senior engineering staff.
- Ensure the quality of design deliverables by participating in QA/QC processes.
- Support project planning: schedules, resources, and budget tracking.
- Oversee construction administration tasks including site inspections and detailed field reports.
- Respond to RFIs, manage Change Orders, issue Addenda and Bulletins as needed.
- Supervise and mentor CAD/BIM or technical design staff assigned to your projects.
- Assist with performance reviews and staff development when requested.
- Contribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and project feasibility assessments.
- Participate in trade organisations and occasionally prepare technical presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years' experience in mechanical building systems within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
- Strong knowledge of building systems layout, coordination, and 3D spatial awareness.
- Skilled in trade-specific design and calculation software.
- Understanding of interdisciplinary design coordination and relevant codes.
- Experience with SKM software, including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies (highly desirable).
- PE license required.
