Location: US (Remote)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Substation Design Engineer with expertise in physical design to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and delivering high-quality substation projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed physical designs for substations, including general arrangements, elevations, grounding, conduit, and control house layouts.
  • Create and review engineering drawings, specifications, and material lists to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to grounding, lightning protection, and equipment sizing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and drafting teams to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., IEEE, NEC, NESC).
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections as needed to support project execution.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4-8+ years of experience in substation physical/protection and control design
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and design tools.
  • Strong understanding of substation equipment, layouts, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, NEC, and NESC.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT and an ability to obtain a PE license within 1 year
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Bentley Substation, Revit).
  • Knowledge of protection and control design is a plus.
