Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar PV Design Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career engineer looking to deepen their technical expertise and contribute to the growing renewable energy sector.

In this role, you'll be responsible for developing early-stage solar farm designs, estimating energy production, supporting site assessments, and reviewing design packages. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to support project development through permitting and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary designs for utility-scale PV systems, including site layout, module and inverter configurations, and electrical schematics
  • Generate internal energy production estimates using industry-standard software
  • Coordinate with development, construction, procurement, and other engineering teams to ensure design alignment
  • Analyze site constraints from environmental, geotechnical, and topographical data
  • Support preparation of design documentation for permitting, landowner packages, and contractor bids
  • Review and comment on detailed designs prepared by third-party consultants and contractors
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal design tools, templates, and best practices
  • Conduct site visits and field evaluations as needed
  • Support assessments of new design methodologies and technologies to improve performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate version control of drawings, simulations, and project documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in utility-scale solar PV design or related engineering roles
  • Proficiency in generating energy estimates using industry simulation tools
  • Experience creating early-stage layouts using solar design software
  • Familiarity with meteorological measurement campaign design and performance data analysis is a plus
  • Experience supporting solar projects during construction is a plus
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration platforms
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
