Job Title: Site Mechanical QC Inspector
Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands
Duration: Annually Renewable Contract
Work Schedule: 5 days/week, 10 hours/day
Job Purpose
The Site Mechanical QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical, piping, and welding activities meet quality and safety standards during construction and installation at the green hydrogen production facility. The role requires technical expertise in welding inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and compliance with industry codes and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control and Inspection

Review contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and related site procedures.

Coordinate welding procedure reviews with the Client’s Welding Specialist.

Oversee and witness Non-Destructive Examinations (NDEs) such as RT, PT, MT, and UT.

Participate in the inspection and testing of materials and mechanical installations.
-
Witness testing of mechanical systems and equipment installations.
-
Advise on technical queries related to mechanical, piping, and welding disciplines in line with client specifications and international codes.

Conduct daily surveillance and walkdowns beyond planned inspections.
Documentation and Reporting

Compile and maintain inspection records, including ITPs, NCRs, NDE, and repair logs.

Utilize the client’s SmartCompletions software for ITR sign-offs and inspection data entry.

Assist in compiling and managing Inspection Test Packages (ITPs) per project requirements.

Issue and manage punch lists and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

Track and drive closure of NCRs in coordination with contractors and subcontractors.
Materials and Welding Oversight

Assist the Materials Manager in inspecting incoming site materials for damage, documentation, and traceability.

Witness Welder Qualification Tests and ensure welder certification compliance.

Monitor welding activities for conformity with project requirements and safety.

Identify welding defects and recommend corrective actions.

Interpret radiographs and other NDT results, as required.
Collaboration and Compliance

Interface with site engineers, contractors, and management to resolve quality issues.

Participate in site meetings, progress discussions, and quality reviews.

Support development and improvement of quality control procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, client specifications, and PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) regulations.

Maintain calibration status and readiness of inspection tools and equipment.
Education & Certification Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Welding Engineering

Mandatory Certifications:

CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or IWI / IWE

PCN Level II in at least two of the following:

Radiographic Interpretation

Liquid Penetrant Examination (PT)

Magnetic Particle Examination (MT)

Ultrasonic Examination (UT)

Experience Requirements
-
Strong background in mechanical/welding inspection and quality assurance.

Experience working in onshore Oil & Gas or Energy projects.

In-depth knowledge of welding codes, techniques, materials, and pressure systems.

Hands-on experience with site inspections and testing during construction phases.

Familiarity with PED compliance and European standards.
