Job Title: Shutdown Coordinator

Location: Qatar

Overview:
An experienced Shutdown Coordinator is required to support a major onshore oil and gas operation. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing all shutdown-related activities across the assigned operational area, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule compliance. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and experience managing complex shutdowns in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all phases of shutdown activities with stakeholders to define work scope, resources, and manpower requirements to build detailed shutdown plans.

  • Support maintenance contracting strategies through site walks, scope clarification, and coordination between contractors and internal teams.

  • Monitor and track shutdown schedules, providing progress updates and supporting planners with accurate completion forecasts.

  • Develop and review work packs, ensuring all documentation and procedures are complete and accurate prior to execution.

  • Participate in risk-based work selection and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) reviews.

  • Assist in resource planning, crane mapping, and spare part identification for assigned areas.

  • Enforce safety procedures and ensure that all work is carried out under approved permits and in accordance with safety and quality standards.

  • Supervise and monitor field execution, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Oversee pre- and post-shutdown mobilisation, including material management, demobilisation, and close-out reporting.

  • Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout shutdown execution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in Engineering.

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, preferably with exposure to onshore facilities.

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures related to utilities and process systems in hydrocarbon plants.

  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems such as SAP (PM and MM modules).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and priorities.
