Shutdown Coordinator
Location: Onshore, Ras Laffan, Qatar
Duration: Tentative Jan 2026 – April 2028
Work Schedule: 8–10 hours per day, Sunday to Thursday

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shutdown Coordinator to manage and oversee large-scale maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sector. This role requires end-to-end planning, execution, and monitoring of shutdown activities, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and adherence to project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and manage complete scope of shutdowns and turnarounds

  • Prepare and review detailed work packages and technical documentation

  • Develop and maintain schedules, histograms, S-curves, and progress tracking charts

  • Lead a team of planners and coordinate multi-disciplinary resources across multiple shutdowns simultaneously

  • Conduct risk assessments, job clash reviews, and implement safety procedures

  • Liaise with project, operational, and contractor teams to ensure timely completion

  • Prepare material reservations, resource allocations, and manpower plans

  • Supervise and monitor site execution, including contractor and subcontractor performance

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality assurance, and HSE policies

  • Support cost estimation, budget tracking, and progress reporting

  • Conduct pre- and post-shutdown activities, including mobilization, demobilization, and close-out reporting

  • Provide technical training and guidance to team members

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience with Diploma + 12+ years relevant experience)

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in process operation planning and shutdown coordination, including 5 years in a senior supervisory role in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors

  • Proficiency in planning and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) and MS Office applications

  • Knowledge of engineering standards and codes (API, ASME)

  • Experience preparing and executing work packages for shutdowns and turnarounds

  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and leadership skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English; confident in presentations and reporting

  • Familiarity with ERP systems for planning, maintenance, and procurement activities

Desirable

  • Experience in shutdown planning software suites or computer-aided planning tools

  • Hands-on knowledge of heavy equipment erection, piping modifications, and maintenance activities

  • Exposure to Lean Planning, Risk-Based Work Selection, and continuous improvement methodologies
