Overview
A leading energy operator is seeking a skilled SHES Lead to provide technical oversight and leadership during offshore project execution. The successful candidate will advise on Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security (SHES) matters, ensuring all offshore activities are conducted safely, compliantly, and in accordance with approved management systems.
This role is ideal for an experienced HSE professional who thrives in dynamic project environments and enjoys collaborating with diverse teams across major offshore developments.
Key Responsibilities

Implement project SHES plans and verify that contractors’ SHES management systems and procedures are effectively applied.

Oversee the implementation of SHES risk management programmes to identify, assess, and mitigate project-specific risks.

Conduct regular HSE audits and verification programmes across all work areas to ensure compliance and the effectiveness of safety controls.

Monitor observation programmes to identify both safe and at-risk behaviours, recommending necessary improvements.

Evaluate contractor HSE training and competency programmes to ensure workforce readiness and safe working practices.

Coordinate with emergency response teams to ensure robust emergency preparedness and response measures.

Support the implementation of occupational health programmes, particularly concerning heat stress management and field health monitoring.

Participate in incident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting, thorough analysis, and effective corrective actions.

Communicate SHES performance findings and recommend continuous improvements to enhance project safety outcomes.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent SHES qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 5, or British Safety Council Level 6 Diploma.
Experience

Minimum of 8 years’ SHES experience in the oil and gas industry, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight capacity.

Demonstrated experience supporting offshore construction or T&I (Transport and Installation) activities.

Strong understanding of SHES management systems and their application in large-scale projects.

Previous experience with major operators, EPC contractors, or service companies within oil and gas.

Proven ability to manage complex interfaces and communicate effectively across multicultural project teams.
