Senior Technical Safety Engineer

Location: Basingstoke, UK
Contract Type: 12 Month Contract (Annually Renewable)
Work Style: Hybrid (up to 60% remote working)

Description of Project/Role and Main Responsibilities
A Senior Engineer skilled in technical safety is required to support various projects, either independently or as Project Discipline Lead Engineer. Projects will range from feasibility phase to basic design and FEED, with a primary focus on onshore/offshore oil and gas production facilities, including LNG and renewables production.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analysis, calculations, and engineering studies as assigned, producing technical safety deliverables to industry and company standards.
- Supervise and oversee subordinates and/or third-party contractors to ensure standards and schedules are met.
- Review and approve documents and drawings produced by other team members.
- Offer technical support and guidance to colleagues on safety design requirements.
- Coordinate and expedite discipline or multidiscipline interfaces as needed.
- Participate, when assigned, in the development of standards and procedures.
- Assist with manhour estimates and planning for proposals and projects.
- Remain current with technical advancements, national and international standards, and company methodologies.
- Actively participate in technical safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL.

Candidate's Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Experience in Loss Prevention Activities including F&G Design, Active/Passive Fire Protection, Hazardous Area Classification.
- Proficiency in Risk Analysis techniques (e.g., QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, Flare/Vent Studies).
- Experience in development of HSE-related philosophies.
- Familiarity with Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) studies.
- Background in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments.
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering), accredited by a chartered engineering institute.
- Chartered Engineer or certified process safety practitioner status preferred.
- Knowledge of company tools and standards is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel worldwide for short-term business trips or international rotations lasting 6-12 months at company or contractor offices.
