About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in technical safety and loss prevention engineering, a strong understanding of international standards, and the capability to independently manage key project deliverables within schedule, cost, and safety parameters.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical safety support across projects and proposals.

Develop safety-related deliverables in accordance with project requirements and international standards (NFPA, API, AS, EI, etc.).

Contribute to firewater system design, hazardous area classification, safety layouts, and active/passive fire protection systems.

Conduct consequence modeling using tools such as Phast, FRED, Vessfire, and Pipenet.

Review and validate 3rd party safety studies and reports.

Ensure compliance with client specifications (e.g., NORSOK, PTS, Shell DEPs) and local regulations.

Collaborate with other discipline engineers to ensure integrated project execution.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

10 to 15 years of experience in technical safety/loss prevention in the oil & gas or energy sector.

Proficient in software tools: Phast, Pipenet, FRED, Vessfire.

Solid knowledge of international standards (NFPA, API, ISO, BS, EI, IP).

Experience in reviewing third-party studies and engineering deliverables.

Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Registered Professional Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or equivalent international body preferred.
