Project Overview
A leading global energy operator is seeking an experienced Senior EPC Contract Engineer to support complex subsea projects (SPS/SURF packages). This role involves managing large-scale EPC contracts (ranging from $50M to $3B) for high-complexity offshore projects. The position requires significant coordination across internal and external stakeholders, and offers the opportunity to serve as a contract lead on international capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Engineering & Administration (SPS/SURF Packages)

Provide full contractual and procurement support for assigned offshore projects.

Lead preparation and execution of complex tender packages, including CCFT, OBE/OBT, FEED+ formats.

Develop commercial structures, contract terms, and procurement strategies.

Oversee contract qualification processes, lead exception reviews, and conduct contract negotiations.

Evaluate bids on commercial grounds and present recommendations for contract awards.

Apply proactive contract management practices to prevent claims during tender and early execution phases.

Support project teams through internal governance gates and approvals.
Project-Level Contract Leadership

Serve as a contract engineering advisor and subject matter expert for multiple projects.

Develop contract methods, tools, and competency requirements for the contract engineering discipline.

Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to contract engineers within the organization.

Ensure governance and compliance with contracting procedures and approvals across assigned projects.

Represent the contracts function in project reviews and steering committees.
Coordination with Legal and Stakeholders

Collaborate with legal counsel and contract management teams to align contract strategy with corporate policies.

Ensure consistency across contract activities, legal processes, and project needs.

Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for designated projects across multiple business divisions.
Claims Management

Analyze and assess contractor and company claims during contract execution and closeout phases.

Support projects in developing claims responses, counterclaims, and dispute resolution strategies.

Provide expert recommendations, draft correspondence, and assist with claim negotiations and settlements.
Continuous Improvement

Contribute to contract management lessons learned and best practice sharing.

Review and update contract reference materials to strengthen future contract processes.
Qualifications

Minimum 20 years of EPC contract engineering and administration experience for offshore oil & gas projects.

Minimum 10 years of recent experience with SPS and SURF package contracting, tendering, and administration.

Strong knowledge of offshore EPC contract structures, legal aspects, and claims management.

Proven experience leading complex tender processes and contract negotiations.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage multi-disciplinary project teams.

Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in French is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
