Job Title: Senior Subcontracting Specialist (Lead Level)
Location: Perth, Western Australia (Office-based)
Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extension (project expected to run until end of 2026)

About the Role:
We are partnering with a leading energy sector client to recruit a Senior Subcontracting Specialist to play a critical leadership role on a major infrastructure project in Perth. This role will oversee and mentor two subcontracting specialists and support the project through a key phase of subcontract awards.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of subcontracting processes, excellent commercial acumen, and proven leadership skills. Prior experience with industry-standard systems and processes, preferably with a background in offshore/onshore energy projects, will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide the project team in managing subcontractor relationships post-award, ensuring contractual compliance and protecting the company's commercial interests.
- Prepare, negotiate, and settle claims, variations, interim progress claims, and final accounts with subcontractors in collaboration with project management.
- Ensure timely issuance of notifications and insurance certificates to subcontractors in line with contractual obligations.
- Agree on performance and retention guarantees in accordance with main contract requirements.
- Manage onboarding and mobilisation of subcontractors including submission of pre-mobilisation deliverables.
- Oversee complex claims assessment and negotiations, including extensions of time and prolongation claims.
- Support subcontract pre-award activities including tender preparation, evaluation, and recommendations for award.
- Develop and monitor subcontracting plans aligned with project schedules and procurement strategies.
- Assist in cost control activities, forecasting, and preparation of management reports related to subcontractor costs and project revenue.
- Facilitate risk management workshops and maintain the project risk register related to subcontracting activities.
- Ensure purchase orders reflect contract terms and support procurement team in negotiations and claims settlements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, law, engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years' experience as a Contracts Engineer or Subcontracting Specialist, preferably within the offshore or onshore oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of contract law principles and commercial risk management.
- Proven negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
