Job Description:
The Senior SCADA Engineer Representative is a key execution role responsible for ensuring that SCADA commissioning activities are delivered safely, on time, and to the required technical and quality standards across both onshore and offshore environments. Engaging at the intersection of engineering, site execution, and stakeholder coordination, this role directly influences the successful energisation and handover of Substation Control Systems and Metering.
A strong on-site presence, including offshore work during critical commissioning phases, is required. The ideal candidate can operate effectively in high-pressure, multicontractor environments and will take ownership of day-to-day commissioning execution, maintaining progress, actively managing risks, and upholding technical integrity.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate SCADA commissioning activities across interfaces, collaborating closely with contractors, electrical commissioning teams, and project stakeholders to align with the overall commissioning plan.
- Actively supervise and manage commissioning personnel and activities, ensuring correct execution, proper documentation, and alignment with project requirements.
- Maintain a clear and accurate overview of commissioning progress, providing structured reporting to management, highlighting deviations, and driving corrective actions.
- Uphold quality assurance and compliance, validating contractor deliverables, approving checklists and test documentation, and ensuring full traceability across commissioning activities.
- Drive the completion and closure of snagging to ensure compliant handover.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of commissioning schedules and plans, defining scope, timelines, and QA/QC requirements for SCADA commissioning and ensuring necessary resources are available.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, and SIT activities, ensuring systems are tested, validated, and integrated correctly with all supporting documentation complete and approved.
- Exercise responsibility and decision-making authority in commissioning execution, initiating necessary actions and proposing changes to maintain progress and deliver results.
Requirements:
- Prior experience on similar projects is preferred, with familiarity in commissioning governance, reporting, documentation, and EPC delivery models.
- Substantial hands-on experience with SCADA commissioning in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, including direct experience with microSCADA and Substation Control Systems.
- In-depth knowledge of National Grid requirements and grid compliance processes, with practical experience ensuring SCADA systems meet grid code obligations during commissioning.
- Minimum five years relevant experience, supported by a technical background at B.Sc. level or equivalent.
- Project management certification (IPMA B/C, PMP, or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management, documentation practices, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure commissioning environments.
- Valid GWO certification is mandatory.
- This senior-level position requires the ability to operate independently from day one, requiring only project-specific onboarding and no foundational supervision.
- Must bring own iPhone; all equipment must run up-to-date iOS and allow installation of required security and management software to support data protection protocols.
