Senior QC Engineer - Offshore Oil & Gas
Location: Offshore (with site travel as required), Qatar
Overview
The Senior QC Engineer will manage, monitor, and coordinate the Quality Control (QC) team on offshore projects, ensuring all welding and fabrication activities meet project and industry quality standards. The role includes guiding QC personnel, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to Project QC Manager on welding quality issues and necessary revisions
- Communicate with site welding foremen and QC personnel regarding welding quality matters
- Ensure welding procedures are distributed, implemented, and updated across the site
- Verify that welders and welding operators are qualified and trained for their tasks
- Ensure all welding activities follow approved procedures
- Ensure availability and calibration of inspection instruments, welding equipment, and test equipment
- Monitor implementation of the project quality system
- Liaise with clients and third parties to resolve quality issues arising during project execution
- Ensure preparation and submission of final certification dossiers per project requirements
- Coordinate with Project Manager to allocate QC resources effectively across sites/projects
- Provide guidance, direction, and motivation to QC personnel, including setting performance standards and monitoring outcomes
Candidate Requirements
- Basic engineering degree
- Minimum 12 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, including 6 years offshore in a similar QC role
- Certifications: CSWIP 3.2 or AWS-SCWI; ASNT Level 2 (UT, RT, PT, MT)
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards: TWI, AWS D1.1, API 1104, API RP 2X, ASME IX, ASME V, ASME III, API-650, offshore structure standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and guide a multi-disciplinary team
