Senior Project Engineer
Location: Qatar
A leading energy operator is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to plan, manage, and execute multiple brownfield modification and retrofit projects across onshore and offshore facilities. The role ensures adherence to Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), Quality, Cost, Schedule, Business Controls, and regulatory requirements, while coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute brownfield modification and retrofit projects in line with project management systems and company policies.
- Interface with internal departments including Engineering & Projects, Construction & Interface, Planning & Services, Operations, SHE, Finance, and Integrity & Reliability Engineering.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Participate in project concept selection, developing project objectives, strategies, cost and schedule screening, and project development memoranda.
- Lead Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities, converting conceptual requirements into basic engineering deliverables for EPC phases.
- Ensure correct application of brownfield project planning, interface management, quality management, and risk engineering.
- Review and manage construction strategies, contractor performance, and remedial action plans.
- Coordinate schedule estimates, identify critical paths, assess risks and uncertainties, and benchmark against historical data and industry standards.
- Review project cost estimates, identify contingencies, track and forecast cost and schedule trends, and implement mitigation plans.
- Support approvals of Invitations to Tender (ITT), including scope of work, evaluation criteria, and vendor prequalification.
- Ensure compliance with SHE standards, project requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to development of Qatari employees and ensure compliance with company firewall policies and competition laws.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in project execution, brownfield projects, or operations environments.
- Hands-on experience at operating facilities, including simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and debottlenecking.
- Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in relevant engineering software.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in high-pressure, dynamic environments.
- Knowledge of project planning, risk management, cost control, engineering management, and EPC processes.
- Understanding of SHE requirements, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
