Senior OT (Operational Technology) Engineer

About the Role
An opportunity to join a high-value energy infrastructure programme, supporting the delivery of digital transformation across operations. As an OT Engineer, you will be embedded within large-scale project environments to help bridge the gap between Operational Technology (OT) and Enterprise IT systems. Your work will enable integration of control systems, vendor packages, telecoms, and infrastructure into the wider digital landscape, ultimately supporting automation, analytics, and advanced operational strategies.
This position plays a pivotal role in unlocking efficiency, enhancing security, and enabling advanced technologies within the facility through robust systems integration, network design, and data governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration of operational systems into the enterprise IT architecture.
- Assist in the development of OT project scopes and manage interfaces across teams.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot OT/IT integration solutions across control, telecoms, and marine systems.
- Analyse OT/IT networks to identify and implement architectural improvements.
- Support the hardware lifecycle planning, procurement, and standardisation.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with business and operational outcomes.
- Liaise with technical stakeholders and vendors to maintain project alignment.
- Document and deliver scalable, secure OT architectures for offshore production environments.
- Engage with global digital teams to support infrastructure development and data management strategies.
- Contribute to the development of internal systems, including advanced analytics, automation, and AI platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in control system design in the oil & gas industry.
- Strong grasp of industrial network infrastructure and control systems within FPSO or offshore environments.
- Working knowledge of industrial communications protocols and OT network design.
- Awareness of traditional OT limitations and opportunities for enhancement through digital techniques.
- Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Engineering or related discipline, ideally with a strong foundation in logic or programming.
Desirable Experience
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (IEC, ISO, NIST) - certification advantageous.
- Knowledge of FPSO control systems (ICSS, vendor packages, marine automation, etc.).
- Familiarity with data structuring, conditioning, and transformation.
- Experience with virtualisation platforms, server infrastructure, and SAN environments.
- Exposure to engineering development tools used in EPCI environments.
- System engineering mindset and exposure to full lifecycle development.
