Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Onshore Qatar (Ras Laffan / Doha HQ)
Type: One-year contract with potential extension
Working Schedule: 8-10 hours per day, Sunday to Thursday

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support and leadership across mechanical engineering activities for onshore facilities during EPC and start-up phases, until handover to permanent operations. The role ensures that project deliverables meet safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability expectations throughout the facility lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support in areas including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment.
- Conduct design reviews, commissioning, start-up support, advanced troubleshooting, and develop maintenance work packs.
- Define and document best practices and recommend performance improvements within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Provide technical input to other disciplines to support business objectives.
- Identify and resolve plant issues related to static equipment and piping, including degradation, failure, and malfunction.
- Supervise and coordinate work undertaken by contractors, consultants, and service providers.
- Mentor less experienced engineers on integrity and reliability systems.
- Support completion of project tie-ins and ensure smooth handover of systems under responsibility.
- Maintain issue registers and manage new technology risks impacting project reliability and availability.
- Provide Management of Change technical support to assigned assets, ensuring asset integrity and reliability.
- Participate in safety workshops, value improvement workshops, scenario-based risk assessments, formal risk assessments, and root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or relevant Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Senior Engineer level competencies within mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge and experience with design calculations/verification using software such as PV Elite, CAESAR II, or Nozzle Pro.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong engineering judgement, particularly regarding pressure vessel repair and alterations.
- Ability to work effectively and make decisions under high-pressure conditions.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Computer literate with regular use of professional office and technical applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, organising, and teamwork abilities.
Additional Information
- Contract includes standard project-covered travel and relocation expenses.
- Candidates must be willing to work on-site in Qatar under the stated rotation.
