Overview:
We are currently supporting the recruitment of three experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers for a high-performing industrial site in Runcorn. This is a permanent position focused on mechanical integrity, reliability, and operational excellence within a complex process environment.

This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on balancing short-term technical firefighting with longer-term reliability planning. You'll play a key role in driving equipment performance while ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards—including COMAH requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both day-to-day and strategic mechanical engineering support to maintain and improve plant availability, reliability, and performance

  • Ensure the mechanical integrity of all static and rotating equipment in line with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards for a top-tier COMAH site

  • Maintain compliance with national and international engineering codes, company standards, and asset integrity frameworks

  • Deliver and continuously improve mechanical assurance strategies across the plant

  • Mentor and support junior engineers including graduate engineers and third-party engineering support personnel

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical engineering within a process plant or similar industrial environment

  • Proven ability to handle a variety of complex engineering challenges and prioritise effectively under time and budget constraints

  • Hands-on knowledge of both static and rotating mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, turbines, and pipework

  • Strong understanding of mechanical safety systems and integrity practices

  • Familiarity with relevant standards such as API, ASME, and British Standards

  • Experience conducting and applying risk assessments and mitigation measures

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a results-driven approach
