Senior Management Accountant

A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to oversee management accounting, cost control, and reporting functions. The role involves ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and operational financial analysis to support effective decision-making across the organisation.

Role Overview
The Senior Management Accountant will perform cost and management accounting tasks, including variance analysis, inventory management, product costing, operational improvements, and reporting. The role will liaise with multiple departments including production, procurement, supply chain, maintenance, and quality to provide actionable financial insights and support operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare management information reports to support senior leadership in strategic decision-making

  • Develop and maintain monthly product cost sheets and reporting for production units

  • Perform cost variance analysis and coordinate with production teams to understand discrepancies

  • Support inventory management through periodic valuations, adjustments, and physical count verification

  • Develop and maintain costing procedures and documentation for products and processes

  • Assist in internal and statutory audits related to inventory and material accounting

  • Provide financial support and advice to other departments, including production, procurement, warehouse, and logistics

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings, ensuring alignment with global standards and best practices

  • Prepare accurate, timely management accounts highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, quality standards, and safety regulations

  • Carry out additional tasks as required by management

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Finance

  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CMA, or CIMA preferred

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in management accounting, ideally in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in cost accounting, performance management, and financial reporting

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and ERP systems
