Job Overview

  • Provide strategic technical leadership across instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA for hazardous environments

  • Shape engineering standards, influence regulatory frameworks, and drive innovation across gas distribution networks

  • Support asset risk assessments and lead interactions with regulators and industry bodies

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering continuous improvement and technical excellence

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company engineering standards

  • Provide technical judgement on complex instrumentation and control system designs, drawings, and data

  • Influence internal and external stakeholders, providing engineering advice and guidance

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, standards, and delivery

  • Lead and support technical risk assessments and audits

  • Represent engineering function in external regulatory or industry interactions

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 8–12 years’ experience in instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA in hazardous or industrial environments

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including EAWR, DSEAR, EPS, and other relevant standards

  • Demonstrated engineering judgement and ability to interpret complex technical information

  • Proven leadership, communication, and mentoring skills

  • UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK
