POSITION: Senior Geologist
REPORTING TO: Head of Petroleum Development Section
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT:
LOCATION: Kuala Lumpur Office
1. KEY OBJECTIVES
- Lead geologist for a growing asset comprising developed offshore oil & gas fields along with green-field opportunities and near-field prospects
- Key player with a leading international oil and gas operator
2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Delivering high quality geological studies in support of field reviews and development plans
- Build 3D geological models
- Present technical work to internal and external stakeholders including non-operating partners, regulators, and service companies
- Provide geological input to well proposals and post-drill well reports
- Provide geological support during drilling operations
- Mentor junior Geologists
3. KEY AUTHORITIES
- As provided/assigned by Head of Petroleum Department Section.
4. WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines within the project team, including the Drilling Department, Wellsite Operations Geologist, internal & external stakeholders, and service providers
- Act as an interface between the Petroleum Development department and Exploration counterparts
5. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Geology and/or higher degree (MSc, PhD) in related subject
- Minimum of 10-13 years oil industry experience, including an operating company
- Fully conversant with all aspects of oil & gas development geology (including structural geology, stratigraphy & sedimentology)
- Able to critically assess work of other disciplines (petrophysics, geophysics, reservoir engineering)
- Proven expertise in geomodelling
- Experience of wellsite geological operations
- Previous seismic interpretation experience would be advantageous
