Job Description

Position Overview
This role represents a senior technical position within the Exploration group, providing key support across both operated and non‑operated assets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong team‑oriented mindset, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines. A high level of technical proficiency and a proven capability to mentor colleagues is essential.

The position also requires a flexible, solutions‑focused geoscientist who can adapt to challenges and remain committed to delivering high‑quality results under demanding conditions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Interpret diverse 2D and 3D seismic datasets, delivering advanced geophysical analyses that capture full subsurface uncertainty.

  • Conduct seismic attribute studies, including AVO/AVA workflows, seismic inversion, modelling, and other quality‑assurance/quantitative‑interpretation techniques.

  • Participate as a technical peer in subsurface reviews and cross‑disciplinary workshops.

  • Provide technical assurance and contribute to the development and refinement of standardised geoscience workflows.

  • Assess exploration opportunities at multiple scales, from regional basin evaluation to play and prospect definition.

  • Undertake regional studies, as well as area‑based and asset‑level assessments, to help identify and mature new exploration leads.

  • Work closely with partners, contractors, consultants, and subject‑matter experts to ensure alignment with established exploration processes.

  • Contribute to the management and optimisation of the regional exploration portfolio.

  • Support ongoing expansion and strengthening of the organisation’s upstream activities.

  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, aiding their technical development.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate, trial, and adopt emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Geoscience

  • Approximately 15+ years of industry experience

  • Extensive experience in global and Mediterranean Basin / play‑based evaluations

  • Demonstrated ability in prospect identification, maturation, and assessment

  • High technical proficiency across varied tectonic settings and reservoir environments

  • Proven capability to produce and present high‑quality technical work to senior leadership

  • Strong mentoring skills and a commitment to technical excellence

  • Solid commercial awareness and understanding of value drivers

  • Skilled in a broad range of exploration‑related software applications
