Position: Senior Estimation Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Doha, Qatar
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Estimation Engineer - Mechanical to join our team, responsible for delivering complete and accurate cost estimates and technical proposals for EPC and construction projects in the energy sector. This includes onshore and offshore projects within the oil & gas, chemical, and fertilizer industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical scopes, including:
- Steel structures
- Static and rotating mechanical equipment
- Piping, specialities, pipelines, and components
- Conduct pre-bid site visits and compile technical site reports
- Develop complete EPC Scope Matrices across all disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, telecom)
- Prepare RFQ packages and obtain quotes for materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
- Coordinate with all disciplines to compile complete technical and commercial proposals
- Analyse subcontractor offers and scopes of work for value and compliance
- Identify risks, apply contingency factors, and assess schedule impact
- Create method statements, execution plans, and technical presentations
- Provide scheduling inputs for engineering, procurement, and construction phases
- Prepare post-award documents, including execution budgets and contract handovers
- Review contract drafts for alignment with proposal submissions
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline
- 10-12 years' experience in estimating for Oil & Gas projects
- At least 4-5 years of direct field or project execution experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering and construction processes and documentation
- Ability to perform quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (including English)
- High attention to detail and strong analytical capability
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities under deadline pressure
Desirable Skills
- Experience with both onshore and offshore project estimation
- Familiarity with industry standards and norms for fabrication and erection
- Proven ability to develop technical presentations and client clarifications
