Overview:
A global energy operator is seeking a highly experienced Senior EPC Contract Engineer to join its team in Paris, supporting high-value capital projects across upstream, downstream, and renewable sectors. With project scopes ranging from $50M to $3B, this role demands deep expertise in contract strategy, administration, negotiation, and claims management. You will act as a central point of contact for designated projects and support both project teams and contract governance activities at the group level.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Engineering – Project Assistance:

Manage end-to-end contracting processes for complex capital projects

Develop and execute contract strategies, terms, and tender packages (CFT, OBT, FEED+)

Review and evaluate contractor bids, support award recommendations

Lead contract qualification and negotiation processes

Provide early-stage contractual risk awareness and claims prevention advice

Support project teams through internal approvals and gate processes
Contract Expertise – Internal Coordination & Support:

Contribute to contract method development, tools, and internal standards

Provide coaching, training, and guidance to contract engineers across the business

Ensure governance compliance on contract processes within assigned project portfolio

Act as contract lead representative in project reviews, committees, or stakeholder meetings
Legal Coordination:

Maintain coordination with internal legal teams

Align contract strategy and documentation with internal policies and legal requirements

Support coherence between contract and legal teams for project needs
Claims Management:

Provide expert input on existing contract claims and disputes

Investigate and evaluate claim merit and risk

Support drafting of key contractual correspondence and settlement negotiations

Assist in building, reviewing, and resolving claims and counterclaims
Knowledge Sharing & Process Improvement:

Contribute to continuous improvement through REX (lessons learned)

Consolidate project experience to improve future contract engineering practices
Requirements:

Minimum 15 years of experience in EPC contracts engineering for large-scale industrial projects

Strong knowledge of international contract forms and procurement processes

Proven experience in claims management, negotiation, and contract execution

Strong interpersonal, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills

Experience working with multinational teams across energy sectors is highly desirable

Fluent in English; French is an advantage
