Senior Electrical Engineer - PE

Overview
A growing building services consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with an active PE license to lead the design and delivery of electrical systems across commercial, institutional, residential, and public-sector projects.
This role suits a technically strong engineer who can independently lead electrical design efforts, mentor junior staff, and coordinate directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The position offers genuine technical ownership and long-term progression into senior technical or project leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical system design for commercial and institutional buildings

Design power distribution, lighting systems, emergency and standby power, and fire alarm systems

Perform load calculations, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash analysis

Size and specify switchgear, transformers, panels, generators, UPS systems, and lighting controls

Prepare and oversee construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD

Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural disciplines

Conduct site visits and field investigations

Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration

Ensure compliance with NEC, New York City Electrical Code, and other applicable standards

Mentor junior engineers and designers
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Active Professional Engineer license (New York preferred; New Jersey considered)

8+ years of MEP consulting experience

Strong knowledge of power distribution and lighting systems

Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

Experience with power analysis software preferred

Solid working knowledge of NEC and applicable building codes

Strong coordination and communication skills
