Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Doha, Qatar
Job Summary
Deliver electrical engineering design and execution across study, FEED, EPC, and PMC scopes for onshore and offshore oil & gas projects. Responsible for producing, reviewing, and approving electrical deliverables in line with project execution plans, safety requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review electrical engineering deliverables with minimal supervision
- Develop and manage electrical design basis, specifications, and engineering standards
- Prepare SLDs, protection and metering schemes, load schedules, and design calculations
- Perform cable sizing, load analysis, equipment sizing, and battery calculations
- Carry out and review power system studies including:
- Short circuit analysis
- Load flow studies
- Motor starting analysis
- Harmonic and transient studies
- Develop electrical layouts including equipment, cable routing, tray, duct, and trench layouts
- Prepare lighting, earthing, and lightning protection designs
- Review vendor documentation, quotations, and technical evaluations
- Prepare material take-offs and technical enquiry packages for HV/LV equipment
- Participate in design reviews, project audits, and vendor meetings
- Conduct site surveys, brownfield assessments, and prepare survey reports
- Support engineering coordination across disciplines and with clients/vendors
- Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and project requirements
- Identify and manage technical and commercial risks within assigned scope
- May act as Lead Engineer on small to medium projects, including supervision of junior staff
Technical Skills
- ETAP (including protection coordination, harmonic, arc flash, transient studies)
- SKM or SPEL
- AVEVA Electrical / E3D Electrical
- PSCAD (advantageous)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Strong background in oil & gas projects (onshore and offshore)
- Experience across greenfield and brownfield projects
- Exposure to Pre-FEED, FEED, EPC, and PMC phases
- Experience with offshore upstream projects preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Master’s in Power Systems Engineering is an advantage
- Registered Engineer in Qatar (Grade A) preferred
- Alternatively, Chartered Engineer status required if not registered locally
