Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical and Instrument Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline of long-term projects in the water, hydrogen, and energy sectors. This is a hands-on role for a motivated engineer who enjoys working across feasibility, front-end engineering, detailed design, and construction support phases. You will contribute to a portfolio of water and wastewater projects supporting utilities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in projects from concept through delivery in the water sector

Oversee and approve electrical and control engineering deliverables across the design lifecycle

Coordinate with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project stakeholders

Develop electrical load schedules and specify instrumentation, telemetry, and motor control centres

Prepare scopes for subcontract installation and conduct technical bid evaluations

Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities as required

Ensure compliance with national and international engineering standards

Promote safety, sustainability, and best engineering practices
Requirements

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering

Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution

Strong design background in electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (EICA) within water or wastewater projects

Recent experience reviewing and approving documentation for construction

Knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

Skilled in managing risk, safety, and quality in project delivery

Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
