Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical and Instrument Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline of long-term projects in the water, hydrogen, and energy sectors. This is a hands-on role for a motivated engineer who enjoys working across feasibility, front-end engineering, detailed design, and construction support phases. You will contribute to a portfolio of water and wastewater projects supporting utilities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in projects from concept through delivery in the water sector

  • Oversee and approve electrical and control engineering deliverables across the design lifecycle

  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project stakeholders

  • Develop electrical load schedules and specify instrumentation, telemetry, and motor control centres

  • Prepare scopes for subcontract installation and conduct technical bid evaluations

  • Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities as required

  • Ensure compliance with national and international engineering standards

  • Promote safety, sustainability, and best engineering practices

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution

  • Strong design background in electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (EICA) within water or wastewater projects

  • Recent experience reviewing and approving documentation for construction

  • Knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

  • Skilled in managing risk, safety, and quality in project delivery

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
