Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy Projects
Location: Hybrid (Office presence required 3 days per week - Austin, TX or Chicago, IL)

Join a fast-paced and forward-thinking engineering team working at the forefront of renewable energy infrastructure across the central and eastern regions of the United States. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the electrical design of cutting-edge onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with scope to influence technical standards, project execution, and future energy systems across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and review of balance of plant (BoP) electrical systems during project development.
- Provide electrical engineering expertise during pre-construction, construction, and handover phases.
- Ensure grid code compliance and fulfilment of interconnection requirements.
- Develop technical specifications and assess major electrical equipment for utility-scale renewable projects.
- Conduct or review power system studies and network modelling.
- Manage technical topics with construction teams and oversee external engineering consultants.
- Coordinate with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders across departments.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, health, and environmental standards in all design work.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and process improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of post-graduate professional experience in electrical engineering.
- Strong experience in high-voltage electrical systems including transmission lines, substations, protection schemes, and distribution networks.
- Previous exposure to renewable energy project design (wind, solar PV, or battery storage) is highly desirable.
- Skilled in managing both internal and external technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with power system modelling, Microsoft Office tools, and collaborative platforms such as MS Teams.
- Self-driven with excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and working independently within cross-functional teams.
- Open to learning and adaptable to evolving industry and project demands.
Additional Info:
- This is a hybrid position with three in-office days required per week (Austin, TX or Chicago, IL).
- Flexibility in experience level: ideally 8-10 years, but open to candidates with 6+ years and strong technical capabilities.
