About the Role
An established engineering organisation is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support major transmission and distribution projects in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale infrastructure programmes with a strong pipeline of future work and a clear pathway toward Principal Engineer level.
You will contribute to detailed design and provide construction support, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver detailed Protection and Control design under an agreed design authority

Interpret technical specifications and prepare engineering documentation and Bills of Quantities

Review supplier quotations and ensure alignment with technical and project requirements

Produce and check design calculations, drawings, and secondary system designs

Participate in design reviews, verification processes, and design risk assessments

Provide technical guidance to engineers and support external designers to ensure quality delivery

Support construction teams with specialist input on substation automation and secondary systems

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are compliant and buildable

Support and mentor junior engineers through technical review and knowledge sharing
Requirements

Proven experience delivering electrical design for high-voltage transmission systems (up to 400kV or equivalent)

Strong understanding of protection schemes, substation automation, and secondary systems

Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments

Ability to work effectively with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders

Practical, safety-focused approach with strong commercial awareness

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
