Senior EICA Design Engineer – Water
Location: Manchester
A leading engineering design consultancy is seeking a Senior EICA Design Engineer to join its Manchester office. This role focuses on ownership of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) design deliverables across clean water, wastewater, pumping and treatment projects, with hybrid working and occasional site visits.
Role Overview
Lead the production, coordination, and approval of EICA design deliverables, supporting multidisciplinary project teams and ensuring outputs meet safety, quality, and technical standards throughout all project stages.
Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of design deliverables, reviewing and approving documentation across all lifecycle stages.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors to clarify scope and ensure timely delivery.

Develop electrical load schedules and specify MCCs, telemetry, and instrumentation systems.

Prepare scopes of work, support technical bid evaluations, and oversee sub-contract design packages.

Provide technical input during site surveys, installation, and commissioning activities.

Ensure all work complies with WIMES and relevant UK/international standards.

Champion safety, sustainability, and best practice across all design activities.

Foster multidisciplinary collaboration and maintain strong communication channels.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Degree or advanced apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.

Chartered Engineer or actively working toward chartership with a relevant institution.

Proven experience in EICA design for water or wastewater projects.

Experience reviewing and approving construction and installation documentation.

Knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED.

Strong communication skills and a proactive, organised, collaborative approach.
