Senior Digital Project Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Digital Project Engineer to join a highly technical and forward-thinking team delivering cutting-edge digital solutions within the energy sector. This role focuses on the development and delivery of a Safety Barrier Degradation Monitoring tool to enhance operational risk management and integrity assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of bow-tie diagrams and assign Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) values aligned with recognised industry methodologies.
- Represent the integrity and major risk team in assessing the impact of field modifications.
- Contribute to standalone risk assessments and provide key inputs on safety, environmental, and asset-related risks.
- Oversee and support HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops in accordance with internal standards.
- Conduct consequence analysis for hydrocarbon leak scenarios using industry-standard tools.
- Act as product owner in an agile digital development environment, ensuring alignment between business needs and development activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to refine product requirements and manage backlogs.
- Drive user adoption, manage feedback, and deliver post-production support for digital tools.
- Coordinate across departments including operations, engineering, drilling, logistics, and HSE.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree or Master's in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years' experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
- At least 3 years in Safety Engineering and technical integrity roles.
- Proven expertise in risk assessments, safety barrier analysis, bow-tie development, and performance standards.
- Functional Safety certification and HAZOP leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with scenario-based risk assessments and safety-critical element management.
- Experience with agile software development processes and user-centred design approaches.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).

This position plays a key role in delivering one of the flagship digital initiatives within a complex, expanding offshore field. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between technical teams and business users, driving the design and implementation of an automated safety monitoring system that will directly contribute to enhanced operational safety and integrity assurance.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary digital product group, collaborating with consultants and technology partners, and contributing to a high-impact initiative with substantial value for business performance and operational excellence.
