Position: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Qatar (Residential, 5 days per week)
Start Date: December 2025
Contract Duration: 12 months (with potential extension, subject to client approval)

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Support the development of data science strategy to align with business objectives.
- Promote analytics and AI adoption across the business to enhance insights and problem-solving.
- Mentor and guide junior team members while leading high-impact projects from ideation to delivery.
Innovation & Development
- Lead and manage proof-of-concepts (PoCs), MVPs and use cases (including big data, machine learning, GenAI, and computer vision).
- Conduct complex quantitative analysis, modelling, and algorithm development.
- Translate analytical outputs into practical business recommendations.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of quality solutions.
Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with business units (geoscience, operations, HSE, supply chain, etc.) to understand challenges and develop tailored solutions.
- Support integration of analytics solutions into existing platforms and workflows.
- Ensure user adoption and provide technical support during roll-out and scaling.
Continuous Improvement
- Enhance models through re-training and fine-tuning.
- Monitor emerging technologies, methods, and industry best practices.
- Build partnerships with technology providers and research groups to stay ahead of trends.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years' professional experience in data science, including hands-on delivery of machine learning and advanced analytics projects.
- Strong industry experience in oil & gas, with knowledge of seismic, production, or reservoir data.
- Expertise in Generative AI, with proven experience developing solutions using LLMs or similar frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data manipulation libraries (e.g. Pandas).
- Strong experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Databricks).
- Skilled in data visualisation (Power BI or similar).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
