Senior Contracts Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar

Contract Type: Long-term contract (until 2030)

Work Schedule:

  • 5-day week, 8 hours/day at office base location OR
  • 6-day week, 10 hours/day at construction site base location

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Engineer to support the delivery of complex offshore and onshore EPC projects in the oil and gas sector. This role covers multi-disciplinary contract management from tendering through to contract close-out, including extensive involvement with offshore platforms, subsea systems, and brownfield modifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Contract Management or Project Management are desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 12 years' multidisciplinary experience in contract execution.
  • At least 6 years focused on offshore tendering/contracts for platforms, living quarters, compressor stations, subsea cables, umbilicals, and associated brownfield works.
  • Proven track record managing complex tendering processes across Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPIC phases.
  • Expertise in contracting strategy development, tender documentation, pre- and post-award contract management, negotiations, variations, and claims.
  • Knowledge of contract law is preferred.
  • Skilled in contract correspondence, report writing, and analytical problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM/LSTK construction techniques and contract types including consultancy and FEED contracts.
  • Experience with contract management software such as SAP MM-ES preferred.
  • Commitment to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert contract support to project sponsors and end users throughout tendering and contract lifecycle phases.
  • Review and advise on scope of requirements, tendering strategy, prequalification, and evaluation criteria.
  • Assist in selecting tendering approaches (open, classified, single source) and bidding processes (two-stage, two-bid).
  • Identify contractual risks, gaps, anomalies, and pricing mechanisms ensuring comprehensive and consistent tender documentation.
  • Ensure tender documents address risk mitigation measures inline with project and HSE guidelines.
  • Manage technical and commercial query clarifications during tender phase; participate in bidder meetings and site visits.
  • Lead commercial evaluations, prepare reports, and coordinate evaluation committees ensuring fair, ethical, and compliant processes.
  • Coordinate award processes, prepare contract documentation incorporating all tender clarifications and changes.
  • Support contract administration post-award including correspondence, bonds, insurances, change management, and claims mitigation.
  • Drive change request evaluations, submissions, and awards ensuring timely processing in alignment with internal procedures.
  • Oversee contract close-out procedures including certificates, final accounts, contractor evaluations, and discharge documentation.

  • Must have the legal right to work in Qatar.
