Senior Contracts Engineer - Offshore Projects (Oil & Gas)

About the Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Contracts Engineer to support large-scale offshore projects within the oil and gas industry. This role requires a highly skilled contracts professional with strong experience in handling complex offshore contract packages, from tendering through to contract close-out.

The successful candidate will provide strategic expertise across multiple contract phases including FEED, EPIC, brownfield modifications, and major offshore facilities, ensuring full compliance with best practice contracting, corporate governance, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the key contractual advisor for end-user and project teams across all tendering and contract management activities.
  • Support development of contracting strategies, pre-qualification processes, tender plans, and bid evaluations.
  • Review and advise on Scopes of Work (SOW), identify contractual risks, liabilities, and inconsistencies within tender documentation.
  • Lead the preparation of commercial bid evaluations, clarifications, and negotiation strategies ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines.
  • Participate in technical and commercial bid evaluations, mid-tender meetings, site visits, and bidder negotiations.
  • Ensure robust risk assessment and management are integrated into all contract documentation, with particular attention to HSE guidelines and corporate risk management practices.
  • Facilitate timely contract awards, drafting contract documents incorporating all negotiated terms and issued tender bulletins.
  • Provide ongoing contract administration support during execution phase, including correspondence management, change management, variation orders, claims evaluation and dispute resolution.
  • Support contract close-out activities ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations, preparation of final accounts, contractor performance evaluations, and contract discharge processes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Postgraduate qualification in Contract or Project Management highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years' experience in contract management, including at least 6 years handling offshore oil & gas projects (Platforms, Subsea systems, Pipelines, Cables, Brownfield modifications).
  • Proven track record managing FEED, EPIC and multidisciplinary offshore contracting processes, including feasibility and concept optimisation studies.
  • In-depth understanding of contracting strategies, procurement procedures, contract law, negotiations, and claim resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of various contract forms: EPIC, FEED, EPCM, LSTK, consultancy and construction contracts.
  • Excellent contract drafting, correspondence writing, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in SAP MM-ES module (preferred).
  • Computer literate with ability to analyse contract data and statistics.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Quality and safety focused, with high ethical standards in tendering and contract administration.
